PAUL OWEN HELLAND was born on December 28, 1934 to Jonas and Eunice (Tingstad) Helland in Jordan Township in Adams County, ND.

He was raised on the family farm, attended a country grade school and Mott Lincoln High School, graduating in 1953.  In 1957, Paul enlisted in the US Army and served a tour of duty in Germany.  He was honorably discharged in 1960.  He returned to the family farm and especially loved caring for his cattle.

Paul married Sandra Hongslo on November 9, 1968 and together they had two daughters, Gail and Nancy.  He enjoyed target shooting, flying model airplanes, his farm work, and took great pleasure in riding his motorcycle.   Paul said he wanted his obituary to be "short and sweet"….and so it is.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, Mott, ND; and daughters Gail (Art) Weeks, Vancouver, WA; and Nancy Helland (DeMarchi), Florida.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clayton, and sisters and brothers-in-law Esther and Ray Rassler and Corrine and Hugh Cook.
