Patricia A. Friedt, age 95, of Mott, North Dakota, passed away on May 1, 2026 at the Benedictine Living Community in Bismarck. Visitation will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mott, ND on Wednesday, May 6, from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, with Father Kadrmas as celebrant.
Pat was born on March 30, 1931, to Fred and Charlotte "Lottie" (Gallagher) Rummel on the family farm three miles south of Richardton. Pat attended St. Mary's High School in Richardton and graduated with the class of 1949. She attended Dickinson Teacher College and taught school from 1949-1953. Pat was united in marriage to William J. "Bill or B.J." Friedt on April 8, 1953, and they spent 69 years together until Bill's passing on April 17, 2022. To this union were born seven children, Char, Ron, Flo, Bev, Dan, Kelly, and Mark; and an "adoptive daughter" Marella (Kerzman) Krein.
Pat served on the St. Placidus and St. Vincent Parish Councils and was a member of the Altar Society of St. Placidus and St. Vincent. She was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Society Home fixing hair for the residents for over 20 years. Pat took care of so many people including family her entire life until dementia took over in 2020. She always had a "little something" ready to eat when someone unexpectedly stopped, and the soup kettle was always on. Pat and Bill lived on the farm until the fall of 1997 when they moved to Mott. In December 2020 Charle's Angels loved and cared for Pat and Bill in their apartment until Pat moved in October 2024 to the Benedictine Living Community in Bismarck where she was welcomed, cared for, and loved by residents and staff. We are forever grateful to Charle's Angels and the Benedictine Living Community.
Pat will be greatly missed by her children, Char (Duey) Marthaller, Ron (Anita) Friedt, Flo (Jackie) Friedt, Bev (Gene) Rivinius, Danny (Nancy) Friedt, Kelly (Melissa) Friedt, Mark (Dawn) Friedt, and Marella Krein. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren, plus 7 adoptive grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, plus 15 adoptive great-grandchildren, and 2 adoptive great great grandchildren. Pat is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Brenda) Rummel; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Val (Jeanette) Friedt, Bobbie Rummel, Ann Bergenheier, and Lillian Friedt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lottie Rummel; her husband, Bill; siblings, Pete Gartner, Ione (Bruce) Cady, Donald (Gladys) Rummel, and Arnold Rummel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jacob (Emma) Friedt, Joseph (Vernie) Friedt, Tony Friedt, Ray (Mary) Friedt, Alex M. (Leona) Friedt, Victor (Josie) Friedt, and Frank Bergenheier; granddaughter, Jaylea Friedt, and adoptive son-in-law, Leland Krein.
