Pamela Kay Grote, age 55, of Lemmon, SD, passed away at West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 1:00pm MT at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon with Pastor Ed Zimmerman, officiating.

Pamela was born in Aberdeen, SD on November 17, 1960. She was the last of nine children born to Donald and Phyllis (Milbrandt) Grote. Pamela lived in foster care from birth until moving to Redfield, SD on February 1, 1963, where she was admitted to the Redfield State Hospital and School. She resided there until May 5, 1986 when she moved to Lemmon, SD to receive community based services from LIVE, Inc. She remained with LIVE, Inc. until May, 2015 when she moved to Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon due to medical reasons.

While in Lemmon, Pamela worked a variety of jobs during her younger years, mostly consisting of assembly and bench work jobs at LIVE's training center. For the past several years prior to her death, she had participated in LIVE's Alternative Services program where she enjoyed many recreational and leisure activities. Some of Pamela's favorite things in life were having her fingernails painted, doing artwork, making holiday crafts, watching movies, putting together puzzles and playing games on her Ipad. Pamela will be always be remembered for her infectious smile and her insatiable love for balloons.

Pamela is survived by four brothers, Donald, Randy, Brant, Richard and three sisters, Valerie, Laurie and Patsy. She was preceded in death by both parents and one brother (Barry).
