The Funeral Service for Tillie Salzsieder, age 80 of Sturgis, formerly of Lemmon, will be held at 10:30am Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon.  Pastor Carin Bear and Charlotte Kvale will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.

Serving as Casketbearers are her grandchildren.  Honorary Casketbearers are her great grandchildren.

OTHILIA "Tillie" Huck was born on June 14, 1938 in Sheffield, ND, the second of 19 children born to Ralph and Katy (Hutmacher) Huck.  She grew up on the Huck Homestead south of Keldron and attended a one room school near her home.  She helped her mother raise her siblings.

Tillie was united in marriage to Gerald Salzsieder on August 18, 1956 in Miles City, MT.  They began their life together farming northwest of Lemmon on the original Sazlsieder Homestead.  They raised their family there and continued to farm until moving into Lemmon in February of 1992.

Tillie worked as a nurse's aide at the nursing home and at the sale barn café before her employment at Wheeler manufacturing.

She moved to Sturgis in June of 2013 to be closer to family.  When her health began to fail she moved to the Edgewood Vista Senior Living in Spearfish.

She loved to dance, crochet, and attend her granchildren's sporting events.  She loved growing flowers, gardening, playing bridge and pinochle.

Tillie passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital.

Surviving family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mark Evans, Lemmon, SD; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Becky Salzsieder, Bowman, ND; Kim and Debbie Salzsieder, Custer, SD; 9 grandchildren, Tyler Salzsieder, Courtney (Derrick) Swanson, Shandee (Allen) Kolden, Royce (Heather) Salzsieder, Craig (Jenna) Salzsieder, Darci (Adam) Block, Marla Reede, Hayden Evans (Dantae Anderson), Kelli (Colton) Nehl, 12 great grandchildren, Vedder Swanson, McCready Swanson, Stone Swanson, Alec Kolden, Chole Kolden, Noah Kolden, Harper Kolden, Brody Salzsieder, Addison Salzsieder, Liam Block, Jayna Block, and Micah Reede; 4 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law, Ralph Huck, Spearfish, SD; Carl Huck in Oregon, David and Judy Huck, Whitewood, SD; Raymond and Shauna Huck, Denver, CO; Ruby Huck, Sturgis, SD; Kathy Huck, Denver, CO; 11 sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Coffing, Savage, MN; Jennie Frank, Spearfish, SD; Rose Whetstone, Ft Collins, CO; Pauline and Leon Zentner, Morristown, SD; Arlene and Bud Kopp, Sturgis, SD; Linda and Skip Campbell, Cheyenne, WY; Donna and Lyle Bowman, Sturgis, SD; Carolyn and Ron Heffner, Whitewood, SD; Josephine Huck (Dean Tardiff) Pierre, SD; Cindy and Dave Stofferahn, Sturgis, SD; Noreen and Darrell Plumage, Pierre, SD; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald on November 4, 1992, granddaughter, Nicki Salzsieder, 3 brothers, George,
Johnny, and Richard Huck.

A memorial has been established.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 to 9:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and on Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
