Oakley Bernard "Bernie" Engesser, 62, of Hettinger, ND passed away Monday, September 6 ^th , 2021 at West River Health Services.

Services for Bernie will be Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Centennial Chapel of Evanson Jensen Funeral Homes, located at 704 2 ^nd Ave South in Hettinger, ND.  Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, September 9 at the Centennial Chapel followed by a gathering of Friends and Family at 7:00pm on Thursday evening to share stories and memories of Oakley.

Oakley "Bernie" Engesser was born April 21 ^st , 1959 in Bowman, ND to Gordon (Buddy) and Iris E. Engesser. He graduated from Bowman High School in 1977. Bernie married Valerie (Abbey) Engesser on January 4 ^th , 2002. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on April 20 ^th , 2008 and enjoyed talking with others about his beliefs and the Bible. Bernie enjoyed work in the concrete business with his dad and brothers, eventually continuing on to heavy construction work. Bernie cherished time spent with his brother Randy. In his final days, Bernie enjoyed working with his good friend Tony Avery doing small and local construction jobs. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, cousins and friends as well as fishing, camping and spending time with his 2 dogs (Buttons and Abbey).

Bernie loved his wife and was grateful to have shared his life with her, their children: Brook, Anjel and Brittnee, Kari (Dave), Jesse, Tyler (Rebecca), and Jonny (Stephanie) and 19 Grandchildren, Siblings Jonell, Randy, Debbie, Connie, and Patti as well as numerous friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenny Erickson, mother and father-in-law Eugene and JoAnn Abbey and Grandparents whom he loved very much.
