Nyla Ulmer, 86, of Elgin, ND passed away at the Jacobson Memorial Care Center in Elgin, ND on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Funeral services for Nyla will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.  Rev. Bethany Haberstroh will officiate with burial to follow in the Hope Congregational Cemetery in Elgin.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.

Nyla Joys Ulmer was the youngest of 5 children born to William and Anna (schatz) Roth. She grew up in rural Glen Ullin and Graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1959 after surviving a life changing automobile accident.

On June 8 1963 Nyla married the love of her life Lloyd(Bud) Ulmer. Bud and Nyla enjoyed 47 years together until his death in 2011. Nyla loved to play cards and bingo and also going to the casino to play slots.

Nyla is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Gloria Ulmer, Elgin, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Scott Sweatt, Greenbrier, TN; 3 grandchildren, Brittany and Mason (Kayla) Ulmer, and Olivia Sweatt; one great-grandchild on the way; sisters-in-law, Judy Trauger and Jane Carlson, both of Elgin, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her    husband, Bud; and her siblings.
