NORRIS C. MOSHER "Moe" to his many friends was born July 31, 1926 at Mott, ND to Norris A. and Christine M. (Cassutt) Mosher. His father died suddenly in 1942 at the age of 45. Moe attended school in Mott and graduated from Mott High School in 1944. He played drums in band for 6 years. He lettered in football, basketball and track. In 1944, his team participated in the Class "B" State Basketball Tournament in Minot. Following his graduation, Moe was inducted into the U.S. Army on 11 November 1944. He served in Italy and was honorably discharged on 19 July 1946. He attended Dickinson State College and then returned to Mott where he managed the family Ford garage business in 1947. Moe played first base for many years on the Mott Baseball team.
Moe was united in marriage to Eileen Lois Sahr on June 1, 1950 at Mott. They continued to make their home in Mott. Two daughters, Marla and Nancy were born to them. In 1975, a tornado destroyed their home south of Mott. In 1978, a fire destroyed their Ford Garage. They rebuilt a garage in the same location and the Mosher's continued to operate it until retiring in 1989.
Moe was a lifelong member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church. He was a 60 year member of the Taylor-Skartvedt American Legion Post #71. He was a fifty year volunteer fireman and one of the original EMT's when the Mott Ambulance Squad was organized.
He will be remembered by family and friends as a very kind hearted and generous man who would help anyone with anything. His parents were very frugal business operators and during the dirty 30's, they had means to purchase the nicest toys in town for Moe to play with. With Moe being an only child and a kind hearted boy, he would share the toys with his friends so they had something to play with.
Moe passed from this life on Friday, May 9, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott at the age of 81 years, 9 months, 8 days.
Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Nancy E. Mosher, Mott, ND; 2 sisters-in-law, Arta G. Hoherz, Bentley, ND; Donna C. (Tom) Taylor, Oceanside, CA; brother-in-law, John Fiedler Sr., Mott, ND.
Moe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eileen on October 11, 2001; and his daughter Marla on November 15, 2001; a sister-in-law, Ellen Fiedler on January 16, 2001.
