Norman Miller, 79, of Carson ND passed away November 9, 2018 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin, ND.

The Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:30AM MT at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carson, ND.  Cremation has taken place.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 from 6:00-8:00PM MT at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carson.

Norman was born April 26, 1939 at Flasher, ND to Emil and Frances (Tischmak) Miller.  He grew up on a farm south of Carson with 8 siblings.  Norman learned all the tips and tricks to successful farming from his hard working childhood years.  He knew the land south of Carson so well, he could've told you who owned what and when.

Norman graduated from Carson High School in 1958 and married Mayvonne Hartman on Sept. 12, 1958 and life began again.  He worked in Mandan at the meat market until they moved back to the Hartman farm.  This is where the Lazy G9 ranch all started.  Their 4 kids, Terry, Troy, Stacey & Sjanet are blessed to have grown up with the love of a farmer & rancher.  They spent the years together camping & fishing, even if it was just down by the river.

Along with farming and ranching, Norman drove school bus for 37 years for the Carson Public School. He worked as an FSA field man, where he enjoyed meeting farmers and being out in the country.  He was a Grant County Fair Board director, a Farmers Union board member & a longtime Lions Club member.

Norman always made time for a game of pinnochle, preferans & dominoes.  He loved going hunting, whether it was for pheasant or deer (from his pickup).  We are quick to remember his laughter & the stories he told during all the years at the cabin.  Norman drank his coffee black & ate his cookies warm.  "Wheels" (Dad) only drove down the road so fast, so he could feel the sunshine.  When your phone rang and you would hear, "Is the coffee on?", you knew he was near.

Norman passed away on the evening of Fri., Nov. 9, 2018, with Mayvonne by his side, listening to football.

He will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Mayvonne, Carson, ND; sons, Terry (Kelly) Miller and Troy (Lori) Miller all of Carson, ND; daughters, Stacey (Jan) Hertz, Mandan, ND; and Sjanet Miller, Bismarck, ND; grandkids, Joshua Hertz (Liz Dubuque-Briggs), Kyle (Chelsi) Hertz, Chas (Kayla) Hertz, Brooke (Michel) Hoffer, Kollyn Miller, Terra Miller (Tony Zenker), and Trisha Miller, great- grandkids, Maddie and Rhys, Lark and Lola, Carson, and Hadley, brothers Ted (Sharon) Miller, Mandan, ND; and Ron Miller, Ft. Peck MT; sisters, Marie (Ron) Bieber, Summerset SD; and Elaine Miller, Mandan, ND; brothers-in-law, Lyle Hartman and Dale "Lefty" (Daphne) Hartman, sisters-in-law, Iola (Ralph) Ruscheinsky and Donna Miller, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was welcomed into heaven by his loving parents Emil & Frances Miller, brothers, Richard, Roger and Jim, and sister Margie Hartman.
