Service of Rembrance for Norma Elizabeth Schatz, 87, of Regent, ND will be Friday, July 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the American Legion Hall in Regent, ND. Ron and Russ Schauer will officiate and burial will follow at the Regent Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Mott, ND and one hour prior to the service at the Legion Hall in Regent on Friday morning.

Norma Elizabeth Runge was born September 7, 1924 on a farm in the DeSart area west of the Rainy Buttes to William and Olga (Blek) Runge. She attended the Reed School in Carroll Township. Her mother died when she was only nine years old leaving her father to raise seven children. She learned to cook and sew at an early age as she had to take over most of the household duties when her older sister left home.

Norma was united in marriage on November 25, 1947 to Rueben Schatz and to this union they had six children. They lived in Regent, where she took in sewing and helped Rueben with his custodial work at the American Legion and bank. She was also an excellent pie maker and made pies for the restaurant in Regent.

Her hobbies included sewing, making quilts, crafts and scrapbooking. She continued to live in her home in Regent until February of 2008 when her health began to decline at which time she entered the Mott Good Samaritan Society. Her husband Rueben passed away on August 19, 2011.

One of Norma's greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Grandma always had time to read a book, play a game, make a favorite treat, or help with a craft project. She was never too busy for them. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart as she did in theirs. They will always cherish the special memories they had together.

Norma Schatz passed away at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND on Sunday, July 15, 2012.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her daughters, Elaine (Roger) Fromm, Chadron, NE, Linda Oestreich, Burnsville, MN, Carol (Kevin) Lyman, Elizabethtown, KY, Sandy (Pat) Nagel, Bismarck, ND, Lori (Robert) Bohnhoff, New England, ND; son, Gary (Raeleen) Schatz, Aberdeen, SD; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Magelky, New England, ND; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Celeste Runge, Dickinson, ND and Lawrence and Bonnie Runge, Denver, CO and sisters-in-law, Caroline Dukart, Dickinson, ND and Jean Runge, Bismarck, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben, parents, William and Olga Runge, brothers, Roy, Raymond and Ralph Runge.
