Myron died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.

Myron Cecil Glover was born on January 27, 1942 to Marvin and Martha Glover, in a sod shack in Sioux County North Dakota, north of Watauga, SD. He grew up in the Watauga, Morristown, McIntosh and Selfridge areas, attending school in Morristown and McIntosh. Myron received his High School Diploma degree from American School of Correspondence. Myron worked on the ranch by Selfridge, ND with his mother, uncle, grandmother and sister, and later took over the ranch.

Myron was a member of the National Guard during the mid and late 60's.

In January 1967, he married Kathleen Lawrence. He worked at the Farmers Union Station in Selfridge, along with running the ranch. In 1968 his family moved to the Los Angeles, CA area. While in California he managed a Phillips 66 Gas station for several years, drove 18-wheeler with his brother in-law Ron Lawrence on long-hauls throughout the Western United States. He then worked construction, then became a floor mechanic, installing floor coverings, working out of Sam's Floor Covering and then starting his own business. Through his work Myron met several Hollywood celebrities and was especially proud of his job putting the tile in the museum area around Trigger, Roy Rogers' horse, and working at Roy Rogers' ranch and staying at the ranch and caring for their horses while Roy & Dale traveled.

In the spring of 1982 Myron moved home to live in Lemmon, where he worked installing floor coverings and doing carpentry and woodworking. He was ranch foreman on the Dr. C.A. Johnson ranch for a time. When his mother became ill, he took time away from his work to help care for his mother until her death. Myron became close friends with the Rivinius family and became Dale's right-hand man and truck driver in Dale's landscaping business.

While working a construction job and having Mike Rivinius helping him, Myron became known as "PAPA SMURF" after a little chalk-line incident.

After suffering a stroke in the fall of 1997, Myron moved to Aberdeen to live with his sister Diann. Once he got his scooter he could cruise around town to appointments, grocery shopping, and collecting aluminum cans, and he could tend to his bird feeders in the back yard. Myron took great pride in helping Diann deliver the Midland Press, and enjoyed the friendships he made with numerous people and animals on the routes.

Myron loved the outdoors. His passions were fishing and hunting and wildlife photography, which he enjoyed doing with family and friends. He loved to fish the local stock ponds and lakes, especially for large mouth bass. While in California he enjoyed deep-sea fishing in the Pacific Ocean, and camping in the mountains. He spent a lot of hours in his shop doing woodworking, designing and building many special projects. Myron was an excellent cook and enjoyed grilling, baking bread and making cookies, jams and jellies. Gardening was also a special interest. He collected caps, coffee cups, and Smurf memorabilia. While in California he was an avid bowler, once bowling a 300 game.

Myron would drop what he was doing to help anyone, always had time for a cup of coffee and to tell a few jokes, and was always there when you needed him. He was greatly loved and will be terribly missed by all.
