Muriel Amende age 64 of Belle Fourche, died Monday November 21st, 2005 at the Belle Fourche Senior Health Care Center.

The Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am Monday at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche, with Rev. Gail Arnold officiating. There will be no visitation.

Muriel Steckman was born September 29, 1941 in Hulett Wyoming. She was the daughter of Robert and Nettie (Buechle) Steckman. Muriel grew up and attended school in Hulett. On July 25, 1959 Muriel was married to
Melvin Amende in Belle Fourche. They were blessed with 46 years of
marriage and to this union four children were born, Monica, Mark,
Mashon, and Monte. Muriel was a committed and loving wife and mother.
For several years she worked at JC Penney in Belle Fourche, until it
closed in 1986 and then as a Field Appraiser for the Butte and later
Lawrence County Assessors Offices. This past May she began work for
Konstant and Klein Appraisals part-time so she could devote more time
caring for her husband. Muriel was a member of the United Methodist
Church, Past President of the Belle Fourche Jayceettes and participated
in numerous other organizations throughout her lifetime.

This past May, Muriel was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. It has
been a difficult road and these past few months have provided many
moments of appreciation for who she is as a mother and wife. Throughout
her children's lives, Muriel was always there in attendance and
participation. Whether it was Scouting or the many school activities,
Muriel was there with her children in support and with applause. She
enjoyed music and the arts; and she enjoyed her family's musical
performances very much. Whenever the opportunity presented itself she
could be found hiking in the Spearfish Canyon or exploring forestry
roads with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, always caring for
her husband. She will be greatly missed and remembered by her family and
many friends.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin of Belle Fourche; children Monica
(Mark) Herchick of Bedford OH, Mark (Svetlana) Amende of Mankato MN,
Mashon Amende of St. Paul MN, Monte (Michelle Deyo) Amende of Belle
Fourche; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Molly, Nicolai, Merry, Eric, Scott,
Miles; 1 great grandchild; mother, Nettie Steckman of Hermosa; sisters,
Amy Collins of Hulett WY, Zelda Strand of Hermosa, Joy Neugebauer of
Hermosa, Claire Scott of Hermosa, Wyone Leonard of Hermosa; brother,
Fred Steckman of Hermosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.
