MILDRED A. AFRANK was born May 24, 1913 on a farm southeast of Morristown, SD to Henry and Molly (Rose) Afrank. She attended school in Morristown and graduated from high school. Mildred and Maye Wolverton met in school and have remained lifelong friends or "twins" as they called themselves.
On August 2, 1934, Mildred was united in marriage to Leonard Mollman at McIntosh, SD. To this union six children were born, Phillip, Darrell, Karen, Buzz, Wayne and Mary Lou. They lived south of Watauga on the Walt Nehl homestead and south of Morristown on the Grandpa Payne and Grandpa Afrank homesteads. In 1978, Leonard and Mildred retired and moved to Belle Fourche where they lived until 1992, when they moved into Morristown.
Leonard passed away on March 1, 1996, and Mildred continued her hobbies of gardening until age 92. She also crocheted and in the later years made dozens of quilts which went all over the world. She loved her family and one of her joys was cooking for everyone when they came to visit.
Mildred had been in Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon since August 9, 2007. She passed from this life there on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, quietly in her sleep at the age of 95 years, and 7 months.
Surviving family members include her 2 sons, Darrell Mollman, Billings, MT; Buzz Mollman, Morristown, SD; 2 daughters, Karen Holso, Lemmon, SD; Mary Lou Vaughan, Silver Springs, NV; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, 2 sons, Wayne and Phillip Mollman; 3 grandchildren, Wade Mollman, Gail Hauch, Jeremy Schwehr; 2 great grandchildren, Angela Hauch, and Dylan Mollman.
