Michael Wallum, age 69, of Lemmon, SD, passed away at his home in Lemmon, SD, on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Memorial services for Mike will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at the New Hope Worship Center in Lemmon, SD, with Pastor Rand Bentley officiating.

Michael J. Wallum was born on August 29, 1955 to Arlene and Duane Wallum.  As a young man he loved hunting, fishing and nature.

Mike was united in marriage on January 1, 1979 to Glynis Lien.   He was a father to Jason and Jasmine and grandfather to Keira and Zoey Krebs and Urijah Palmeter.

He worked for many people in his life, farming and ranching, eventually becoming a concrete finisher for Modern Concrete.  He devised a system to build basements under already existing homes and built homes for many people.

His greatest joy in life was his beautiful children and grandchildren.   He loved teaching them about nature, growing trees and planting gardens; and building sandboxes.  He always made sure they had everything they needed.

Mike fought cancer for the past 8 years, fighting to live so he could be with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Glynis, Lemmon, SD; son, Jason (Cheyenne) Wallum and daughter, Jasmine Wallum; granddaughters, Keira and Zoey Krebs; grandson, Urija; mother, Arlene Arndt; sister, Diane Porter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Rachelle Lien; niece Desirae Zaste and nephew, Jeremia Lien.

He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Wallum; sister, Carol Bertch; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fanchon and Merle Lien.
