Michael "Mickey" Ralph Nehl's Obituary
Michael "Mickey" Nehl, age 70, of Pahrump, NV passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Desert View Regional Medical Center in Pahrump, NV.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mickey will be held at 11:00am MT, Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Watauga.
Fr Ron Garry will officiate with burial in the St. Micheal's Catholic Cemetery in Watauga.
The Rosary Service will be held at 7:00pm MT, Monday evening, July 25, 2011 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
Serving as casketbearers are John Nehl, James Nehl, Vernie Martell, Ryan Epps, Joseph Pryor, and Ed Wilber. All friends and relatives are considered honorary bearers.
Michael (Mickey) Nehl was born September 1, 1940 in Bismarck, ND to Ralph and Dorothy (Finney) Nehl. He attended school in Lemmon, SD and Wishek, ND. Mickey served 2 years in the National Guard before his family relocated to Oxnard, CA in 1963. He worked with his father and Uncle Wally as a fence contractor. Mickey met his wife Margie in Wishek, ND and they married in Port Hueneme, CA in 1965. Two years later, they moved to Saugus, CA where their two daughters Chellie and Lori were born. In 1971, the family moved to a ranch in Rosamond, CA. where Mickey started his company "NEHL FENCE". In 1978, their son Michael Scott was born and the next year they settled on their new ranch in Rosamond. In 1999, the family was devastated when Margie passed away. Over the years Mickey traveled, enjoyed time with family & friends and worked until he retired in 2008.
He was a member of St Mary's Parrish, the Moose Lodge, VFW and the NRA.
He enjoyed riding, roping, hunting, off road riding, and an occasional game of horse shoes and cards.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Katherine Nehl Epps (Scott) -CA, Lori Ann Nehl Pryor (Brian)-NV, Michael Scott Nehl–NV, grandchildren, Ryan and Nicole Epps, Victoria and Joseph Pryor and Starla Marie Nehl; brothers, John Nehl and James Nehl; sisters, Ann Marie Nehl, Sharon Nehl Laymance, Linda Nehl Wilber and Jean Nehl Fraasch.
He was preceded in death by his Wife Margaret K. Nehl (Bitz), parents, Ralph and Dorothy Nehl and brother, Richard T. Nehl.
