Maurice Jackson Campbell was born, June 12, 1921 five miles south of McIntosh, to Robert Sr. and Robina (Pepper) Campbell, on the Campbell homestead. He grew up there and attended twelve years of school in McIntosh, graduating in 1939 from the McIntosh High School. Maurice never left the McIntosh vicinity. Following high school graduation, Maurice farmed and ranched with his dad. He married Dorothy Braun of Watauga/Keldron in 1945 at Miles City, Montana. They resided on the Campbell Farm where they farmed and ranched with Maurice's dad. Maurice and Dorothy have four children, one son, Daryl, and three daughters, Dawne, Mona, and Marla. When Daryl reached school age, Maurice moved his family to town in 1952 purchasing the Winter's home in which he resided until his death. He was so glad to return home after recently spending three weeks in the hospital. The home and farm, he knew holds so many memories of family gatherings for him and Dorothy and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When they moved into McIntosh in 1952, Maurice commuted to the farm each day. He also went into the trucking business in 1952 hauling livestock and coal from 1952 until 1972. In 1969, Maurice and Dorothy purchased his Uncle Alex Campbell's farm west of McIntosh and the farm south of McIntosh where he was born, which they operated until his death.
Maurice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He served his community as a McIntosh School Board Member for eleven years from 1960 until 1971, the Corson County Conservation District Board for twenty-three years from 1982 to 2005 and the FSA Community Committee Board.
