The Funeral Service for Matt Korang, age 67 of Hettinger will be held at 10:30am Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Pastor Kathleen Dettmann and Pastor Florence Hoff will officiate with burial in the Hettinger Cemetery.

A family and friends service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday evening at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger.

Special music will be provided by Jill Sailer, organist.

Serving as casket bearers are Larry Lampl, Pete Korang, Bryan Wentz, Mark Hendry, Eric Ericsmoen, Pat McDaniel, Wayne Koltes, Mel Eggebo, Ed Pitzer and Bill Mollman. Jim Van Horn and all of Matt's friends and family are considered honorary bearers.
A memorial has been established.

MATTHIAS KORANG "Matt" was born April 10, 1948 in Hettinger, ND, the fourth of five children born to Frank and Freda (Hofer) Korang. Matt grew up on the Korang farm southwest of Regent. He attended Cedar Country School, St. Mary's school in New England, and Regent High School.

At an early age Matt began farming with his dad. After both of his parents passed away, Matt and his brother Doug farmed together until Doug's death in 1997.


One of the highlights in Matt's life was when he met Marvel Dewey. They were united in marriage on July 15, 2000. They spent their time between the farm and Hettinger. In 2003, they sold the farm and since then have resided in Hettinger.

Matt enjoyed attending auction sales, collecting toys, and visiting with people. He especially enjoyed his peace and quiet time with his wife Marvel and family.

Matt passed from this life on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Surviving family members include his wife Marvel, step-sons, Tyler Bentsen (Alex Jarding), Cody (Brandy) Bentsen, step-grandson, Reece, and mother- in -law Frieda Dewey all of Hettinger, ND; and a sister, Darlene (Donald) Lutz, Dickinson, ND; nieces, Tonya (Sean) Callaway, Lee's Summit, MO; Roxee (Mike) Jones, Fargo, ND; Becky Lutz, New Salem, ND; Suzanne (Leo) Przybylowski, Chicago, IL; Laura Miller, Kansas City, MO; Pam (John) Benton, Kansas City, MO; Tina Motley, Kansas City, MO; and nephews, Todd (Denise) Lutz, New England, ND; and John (Kim) Lutz, New England, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Douglas and Clifford Korang, a sister, Ann Marie Motley, a niece, Nancy Acton; and father-in-law, Kenneth Dewey.

Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger.
