Funeral services for Mary Sprecher, age 92, of Lebanon, IL formerly of Mott, ND will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mott, ND. Pastor Joe Burgess will officiate with burial at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott.
Mary Sprecher was born October 26, 1917 on a farm north of Mott, the daughter of Gisela (Wegesser) and Joseph Roth. On September 1, 1940 she married Arthur Sprecher and they moved to a farm seven miles south of Mott where they lived most of their married lives. Mary and Art made a great team sharing their love for each other, their families and farming. Mary worked side by side with her husband, always ready to do any farm chores necessary whether driving tractor in the field, moving equipment, taking food to the field, or helping with a cattle roundup. She often gave up things she wanted for the benefit of the farm.
Mary cared for and loved her family, caring for anyone who needed her and caring for Art's mother who lived on the farm with them for many years.
On April 20, 1942 their only child Ardyce was born. (How very blessed Ardyce feels to have such loving devoted parents.)
After retirement, Mary and Art enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling often with Ardyce and her husband Clark and seeing new parts of the country. During her life, Mary also enjoyed dancing, embroidery, appliqué, and raising fruits and vegetables with she freely shared with friends and family. In January of 1986, Art suffered a stroke and they moved into Mott where the resided until his death on July 3, 1998. After his death Mary resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Lebanon, IL.
In her lifetime, and in her relationships with others, Mary exemplified the true meaning of unconditional love with a quiet and unassuming strength.
Mary passed away on July 14, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
She is survived by her daughter, Ardyce (Clark) Main, Lebanon, IL; one brother, Joe (Francis) Roth, Dickinson, ND; two granddaughters, Shelly Rassier, Fairview, MT and Kammie (Jeff) Reile, Beatrice, NE; one grandson, Tim (Fran) Main, Omaha, NE; five great-grandchildren, Alex and Ian Monson, Lincoln, NE and Caitlyn, Chloe and Garrett Main, all of Omaha, NE.
