Mary Albrecht Huisman was born August 31, 1919, at New England, ND to Conrad and Eva (Schank) Albrecht. She received her education at St. Mary's elementary school and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She continued her education in secretarial and business training. Upon receiving her degree, she worked in Washington, D.C. with the Department of Defense. She then moved to Mott where she was employed by the offices of Frank Wagendorf, Muggs Maercklein and Dick Furness.
She married Walter Huisman on February 23, 1952, and they made their life together on the family farm southeast of Mott. They retired from farming in 1981 and moved into Mott in 1998. It was at this time that Mary worked at St. Vincent's Parish and also taught CCD classes.
Walter entered the nursing home in 1999 and died in February of 2000. Mary entered the nursing home in July of 2004 and at the time of her death had lived at the nursing home longer than any present day resident.
Mary just celebrated her 98th birthday with family and friends. She still had her great wit and sense of humor and always had an answer for everyone! She attended Mass and devotions weekly and had a deep devotion for Mary, the mother of God. Mary died October 18, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Home with her family at her side.
Left with loving memories are their children: Jan Huisman, Wibaux, MT; Ken (Denise) Huisman, Wilton, ND; and Rod (Sandy) Huisman, Great Falls, MT. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Travis, Courtney, Katie, Kalen, Kallie (Jordan), Jessica (Adrian), Dylan and 2 great-grandchildren: Avery and Kaysa. Mary is also survived by her brother's daughter Mary (Jim) Julian and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her daughter, Barbara, her parents, 1 sister, Anna; and 3 brothers: Aaron, George, and Peter, and 2 infant siblings.
