Mary Jane (Lane) Harmon passed away March 15, 2020 at the Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, North Dakota.

Mary Jane was born November 7 ^th , 1935 to Pete and Ida (Eszler) Lane in New Leipzig, North Dakota.  Later the Lane family moved to New Salem.  At a very young age, Mary Jane's mother died, her father moved out of state to find work during the depression and never returned.  After her mother's death the Beusen family of New Salem took her in as a foster child.  Mary Jane graduated from New Salem High School in 1955.  She then attended Dickinson State College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  After graduation Mary Jane taught for several years in rural Oliver County and then as a second grade teacher in Glen Ullin, North Dakota.

Mary Jane met the love of her life, Roger Harmon, on a blind date set up by her friends, Ed and Sherie Egli of New Salem.  Mary Jane and Roger were married September 27 ^th , 1971 in Carson, North Dakota.  Mary Jane taught many years in the Carson School until retiring in 2002.  She along with Roger were custodians for various businesses for many years in the Carson, North Dakota area.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roger, parents Pete and Ida Lane, the Beusen foster family, sister-in- law and brother- in-law, Peggy and Emil Kuntz.

A memorial service and Internment at the Lark Cemetery will take place at a later date.  Any memorials can be donated to the Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, North Dakota in her honor.
