Obituary

Marvin P. Clausen, age 85 of Lemmon, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

A Private Family graveside service was held on June 27, 2020 at Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon.

Marvin P. Clausen was born July 5, 1934 in Ellendale, ND to Hans and Edith (Hill) Clausen.  He was raised on the family farm east of Ellendale.  Marvin attended a country school and Ellendale High School.

On July 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Wilma Radke.  Six boys were born to this union, Michael, Scott, twins David and Dale, Jeff, and Jamie.

Marvin was a self taught mechanic and later attended a diesel mechanic training school and that brought him and Wilma to Lemmon in 1962 where he began working for Hersrud Implement.

Marvin helped a friend build an addition onto a house, so Marvin thought he would try his hand at construction.  He then operated Clausen Construction for many years and at age 85 was still doing snow removal..

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, and a 25 year member of the Lemmon Fire Department.  He and Wilma were part of the group instrumental in establishing the Live Center and he served on the first board.  He also served on Greenhill Cemetery board for many years.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Clausen, Lemmon, SD; four sons, Michael Clausen, Sioux Falls, SD, David (Cindy) and Dale (Vonda) Clausen, both of Rapid City, SD, and Jeff Clausen of Beaver Creek, MN; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Scott and Jamie.
