Obituary

Family and Friends are like the stars in Heaven, even though you can't see them you know they are always there. Heaven has another Star…

Martha Hoffman went to meet The Lord and deceased family and friends on September 16, 2008 at the West River Medical Center Hettinger, ND.

Martha Brueni was born September 20, 1915 near Zenith, ND to Emil and Marie (Schwartz) Brueni. She attended rural schools in the area, completed her high school curriculum at the State Normal School, Dickinson, ND and received her Two-Year Standard Teacher's Certificate at the Dickinson Normal College, Dickinson, ND. For 30 years, she taught all eight grades in rural schools in Stark, Dunn, Adams and Hettinger Counties. Some of the schools included Heart River School District, New Castle, Scenic and Wild Rose, Timber Creek, Cedar Butte, Beisigel and Eagle.

Teaching was her professional passion in life, but her family always came first. On July 15, 1941, she married Andy Hoffman of rural South Heart. For eight years they lived south of South Heart where they farmed and she taught school. In 1950, they moved to their farm south of Mott where she continued to teach, help with the farm and of course, garden, play piano and crochet. No guests in her home ever left hungry and many received crocheted doilies from her before they were allowed to leave. She felt so fortunate to be able to live independently for 92 plus years. In May, 2008 she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center at Mott, ND.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Linda (favorite son-in-law, Dorrance) Eikamp, Gillette, WY and Sandy Hoffman, Mott, ND, her grandchildren, Justin and Becky Eikamp, Bismarck, ND and Jenny Eikamp, Nome, ND, her precious great-grandchildren, Madee and Drew Eikamp, Bismarck, ND, one brother, John Brueni, South Heart, ND and one sister, Emma Bock, Dickinson, ND and two sisters-in-law, Anna Vilma Coplea, Mammoth Lakes, CA and Viola Hoffman, South Heart, ND, numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of people of all ages who called her Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy and her sisters, Rose Butler, Ida Butler and Edna Hansel and one brother, Emil Brueni.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 19 at the Church of St. Vincent, Mott, ND, followed by a Rosary service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of St. Vincent, Mott, ND at 10 a.m. MDT on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Fr Charles Zins will officiate with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery at Mott.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Eikamp, Jenny Eikamp, Ray Hoffman, Ron Bock, Gary Brueni, David Brueni. Junior pallbearers are Madee and Drew Eikamp. All relatives and friends are considered honorary bearers.
