Margaret
Haugrose
Jun 17, 1940 — May 24, 2026
Margaret June Haugrose, 85, passed away peacefully at Valle Vista Rehab and Nursing under the care of Central Montana Medical Center Hospice on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Margaret was born on June 17, 1940, the second of three children born to Theodore and Bertha (Roesler) Schadler.
Margaret was a true social butterfly. She could walk into a room not knowing a single person, yet by the end of the night she would have visited with everyone there. Her outgoing personality made her wonderful at every job she held, especially those that allowed her to connect with people.
Nothing brought Margaret more joy than watching her boys play sports, and later, cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines. She also had a deep love for animals and over the years cared for many dogs and cats — and of course, the two "bison" she considered her pets.
Margaret enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers and had a special talent for raising beautiful roses. No matter where she lived, she always appreciated the flowers, wildlife, and especially the mountains. In her later years, she often asked Jon and April to take her for drives up into the mountains so she could enjoy the view.
Margaret was also a wonderful cook and baker. If Grandma baked buns, her grandchildren could hardly wait until mealtime before sneaking one. It became a family tradition and something everyone looked forward to.
Margaret is survived by her children: Jim (Sandy) Jacobson, Deb Hanson, JD Haugrose, and Jon (April) Haugrose; her grandchildren: Jeremy (Dawn) Jacobson, Sean (Elizabeth) Jacobson, Michael (Addie) Hanson, Mitchell (Bree) Hanson, Jayde Haugrose, Josh Haugrose, Koltin (Paij) Haugrose, and Brayden Haugrose; her great-grandchildren: Brittany, Marcus, Arden, Wyatt, Lainey, Riggin, and Ryder; her great-great-grandson, Sebastian; her sister, Irene Greff; special friend, Sandee Dean; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Bertha Schadler; her sons, Jeffery and Mark Jacobson; son-in-law, Ed Hanson; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Jim Dittus; brother-in-law, Jim Greff; and her husband, Boyd Haugrose.
The family would like to thank the staff at Valle Vista Rehab & Nursing for the outstanding care they gave Margaret, as well as the Central Montana Medical Center Hospice team for their compassion and support.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Elgin Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
