Margaret Fries, 80 of Mott, ND passed away at the St. Benedict's Care Center in Dickinson, ND on January 1, 2019 with her family at her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott, ND.  Fr. Charles Zins will officiate and burial will follow at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, at the St. Vincent's Catholic Church, followed by a Rosary/Wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Margaret (Marge) Schmitz was born on July 7, 1938, in Beach, ND, the second daughter of Earl and Marie (Nistler) Schmitz. She grew up and lived on the family farm north of Golva, ND, graduating from high school there.

Marge attended college and graduated nursing school through St. Alexius (now University of Mary).  Upon graduation, she was employed by St. Alexius Hospital as a charge nurse, and it was during this time that she met the love of her life, Don.  They were later married in Golva, ND and made their home in Mott, ND. Together Marge and Don worked on their farm and were blessed with four daughters. In addition to her duties as a farm wife, she also continued her career being employed as the Director of Nurses at The Good Samaritan Nursing Center, and later served as the Hettinger County Health Maintenance nurse for Southwest District Health Unit. After her retirement, she enjoyed new hobbies like making greeting cards, playing bridge, and spending even more time with her family and friends. Her love of music, playing the accordion, and singing will be held fondly in the memories of those who loved her.  Throughout her entire life, Marge drew much strength from her faith and her family. She had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and the rosary, and was called home on January 1, 2019, on the feast day of the Solemnity of Mary.

Survivors include her daughters Diane (Kent) Mortenson, Dickinson, ND, Deb (David) Bohn, Mott, ND, Donelle (Jason) Mogard, Deering, ND; 7 grandchildren  Michael (Ashley) Mortenson, Kendra Mortenson, Brett (Awna Kovash, fiancé) Mortenson, Joseph Bohn, Ashley Mogard, Lindsey Mogard, and Katie Mogard; four sisters, Elaine Zachmann, Earlene (Dan) Carney, Bonnie Summers, Annette (Steve) Schindler; one brother Paul (Mary Lee) Schmitz; one brother-in-law Norbert (Frances) Fries, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, daughter Donna, two infant sons, grandson Wade, brother-in-law Harry Zachmann and Tom Summers, and many other angelic infants and family members.
