Stitt
May 30, 1941 — Feb 24, 2019
Mott
Lynda Sue Stitt went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND from complications of pneumonia.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Barbara Koenig on Fri., March 1, at Bethesda U.M.C. located on 4 th Ave., NW in Elgin at 11:00 a.m. MT.
Lynda Sue Smith was born on May 30, 1941, to Charles Juniss and Evelyn Lois (Sandefur) Smith in Daviss County Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky. She was the second oldest of five siblings.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age at her home church, Newman Baptist Church in Newman, KY, and was baptized in the Ohio River. She grew up primarily in Stanley, Reed, and Newman, KY. She attended school in Henderson.
Lynda met and married Buddy Barr in Reed in the mid-1950s to which three children were born, GiGi, Timothy, and Jamie. Buddy and the children moved to Michigan, after which she lived in Owensboro for a few years, and later moved on west. She eventually moved to Anaheim, California where she met her husband, Lloyd, to which one son was born, Charles Allen. Later remarrying and having her daughter, Johnna. She lived in various states over the years.
In the late 1960s she moved to Los Angeles where she met and married her beloved Eddie Stitt. After a time, they moved away ending up in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and later on to Casper Wyo. Eddie was a Superintendent for Valentine Resurfacing and she traveled to several states with him for his work during that time. They were happily married for many years until Eddie became ill, (after retiring in Elgin, North Dakota), and he passed away in September of 2004.
Lynda loved life and easily made many friends; she was a hard worker and held many jobs over the years, from waitressing, owning two businesses, driving water truck on some of the surfacing projects, to being convention coordinator for Hilton Hotel. She was a very talented, creative person, loving to decorate her homes beautifully, design flower arrangements, and well known for her beautifully displayed Christmas decorations throughout her house.
She dearly loved her children, Charlie and Johnna, Timothy, GiGi and Jamie, and her three grandsons, Tanner, Forrest, and Skyler, and granddaughter, Gabby – she couldn't wait for their visits. Lynda thought a lot of daughters-in-law, Lisa, and in later years, Norma Nicholles.
Lynda loved working in the yard with planting trees and bushes and flowers. She enjoyed sitting in the yard with her sister, Sally and her brother-in-law, Babe, and friends, and watching the dogs play and the various birds feeding. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, going to the casino, shopping, visiting with family and friends, and life in general.
She was an excellent cook, and loved for her often-requested green beans, and peanut butter fudge. You didn't leave her table hungry. (But she was stingy with her eggnog!)
A few years after the passing of her husband, Eddie. She had to have life-changing surgery and with other medical problems and the onset of Alzheimers, she lived at Dakota Hill a short period of time before moving to the Good Samaritan Society in Mott where she remained until her passing.
Lynda had a great love for life and family, and friends.
She is survived by her sons Charlie (Norma) Nicholles, California; Timothy; daughters Johnna Grey, and Jamie Barr; dearly loved sister, Sally Werre of Elgin; and brother Charles Ray (Virginia) Smith of Jordanton, Texas, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Lynda was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband, Eddie in 2004; her parents; brothers Johnny Smith and Allen Lee Smith in Kentucky, and daughter, GiGi Barr. Her spark for life will be missed.
Goodbye, Sissy.
