Lyla May (Dally) Schreiner was born on May 17th, 1945 to Emma and "Bud" Dally. She grew up on the family farm south of Raleigh, ND. Lyla spent the majority of her life on a farm/ranch and loved the country way of life.

Lyla's ultimate passion was horses. She trained horses, barrel raced in local rodeos and was involved with the Raleigh Saddle Club. Lyla joined the West River Teamsters in 1989 and was involved in many Wagon Train treks with her horse Blueberry; she also rode with the Pony Express. Lyla was proud of her 3 remaining horses that she had on her small ranch and continued to ride her horse Cowboy until she got sick with Cancer in November of 2018. When Lyla wasn't doing something involving horses, she spent her time dancing, traveling and playing darts with her best friend and partner Monte. Monte and Lyla worked construction for a number of years together before Monte passed away in 2000.

Lyla loved being outside and working in her flower and vegetable gardens- she was always on the hunt for a unique rock or piece of drift wood to add to her garden "art".  Lyla also had a love for Yahtzee and spent many hours playing with her special friend Vicky. Lyla looked forward to her oldest daughter and her two grandchildren coming back to ND for visits and she enjoyed traveling to Rapid City, SD spending time with her youngest daughter and son-in-law.

Lyla passed away on 4/29/19 at Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin at the age of 73.

Surviving family members include her 2 daughters, Kelly (Dennis) Turman, Rapid City, SD; Valerie Grant (Eddy Green), Clayton, NC; 2 grandchildren, Emma and Gabrielle Grant; 3 brothers, Roger Dally, Mandan, ND; George (Paula) Dally, Gillette, WY; Loren Dally, Mandan, ND; 1 sister, Sharon (Elmer) Miller, Raleigh, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her best friend and partner Monte Hulm.
