Lucille
Seifert
Jan 4, 1927 — Aug 28, 2022
On Sunday afternoon, August 28th, 2022, Lucille Seifert, with family at her bedside, passed away at the Lakeview Memorial Hospital in Stillwater, MN. She was 95 years old.
Lucille Helen Wagner was born on January 4, 1927, to Fred and Helen (Schorsch) Wagner ✝ of Richardton, ND. She grew up on a farm near Mott, ND, during The Great Depression. Lucille both graduated from Mott High School and moved to American Falls, ID in 1945, working as a waitress near the Pocatello Air Base at the end of World War II. She wed Martin Seifert on June 4, 1946, entering what would become a 65-year marriage. After moving back to North Dakota, Martin and Lucille farmed and ranched north of Haynes, ND on Meadow Lake Ranch. There, she became mother to six children*. Shortly after Martin's death in 2011, Lucille moved to Oak Ridge Place in greater Stillwater, MN. She spent nine years there, and, upon leaving, the staff called her "an icon."
Lucille loved to garden, canning a variety of vegetables. She milked the cow, operated farm equipment, drove school bus, served full meals for the field and home, and raised her family. As such, she taught her children the value of hard work. She also taught them the value of fun: Lucille and Martin traveled visiting family and friends along the way, fished, gambled, and played cards - she never met a card game she didn't like. Most importantly, she taught them the value of love. Lucille, along with Martin, demonstrated this love by improving and renewing her children's homes, imprinting cherished memories upon her children and grandchildren in the process. She leaves behind a tremendous legacy… and a mouth-watering doughnut recipe.
Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM MDT at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger, ND on Friday September 23, 2022, with a wake and biographical movie to follow.
