LuAnne was born to Margaret and N.F. (Red) Lyon on August 10, 1941 in Dupree, SD. As one of seven children, LuAnne was known as the quiet one who was always willing to help her mother and grandmother, which earned her the nickname "Chick" from her siblings.
She began her education at Prairie View country school and attended high school in Lemmon. After graduation, LuAnne attended Black Hills Teachers College and went on to teach at Hay Hill and Cooper School.
In 1961, LuAnne married Irving Jordan at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Meadow, SD. They built their life and worked hand in hand on the family ranch, south of Faith, SD. Together they raised their six children – Deborah, Margaret, Joan, Kevin, Kent and Brett.
As a faith-filled mother and wife, LuAnne was a role model for all of her family. She was devoted to her family, usually putting her needs last. Even after long days in the field or nights tending to calves and lambs, LuAnne would still find time for her loved ones.
LuAnne had a servant's heart and the ability to make all feel loved and welcomed with her kind and gentle smile.
The warmth of spring was welcomed by LuAnne, who anticipated planting her beloved flower beds and large garden.
LuAnne received great joy from the camaraderie of her quilting club and extended family gatherings. The friends she made throughout the years, she held close to her heart.
