LOUIS JAMES JAHNER was born on April 20, 1986 in Dickinson, ND to Roger and Renae (Koppinger) Jahner. He grew up on the family farm north of Mott, ND and helped his family with the operations on the farm. Louis has a song after an incident with starting a fire, not once, but twice while cutting hay. "Louie started a fire, we know he did it, but he won't admit it". He enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting and fishing. Louis attended school in Regent and Mott, graduating in 2004 from the Mott/Regent High School. Louis was known by several nicknames including "Sparkie", "St. Louis", "Louie" and "Big Lou". During his senior year, Louis was surprised with his dream car: a yellow Mustang, which he cherished. Louis went to Wahpeton to college where his dream was to finish school, work as a John Deere mechanic for Letvins in Dickinson for about a year then return to school to become an engineer.

Louis was always a fun person to be around. He enjoyed life to the fullest, was a good influence among his family and friends, and wanted the best for his brother and sister. He would encourage them about school being important no matter how hard it is. Louis was on the Honor Roll all through his school years. He played in the band, sang in the choir and participated in the café concert. He loved to perform in skits and class plays in his earlier years of school. He also liked the swing choir. Louis had a knack for making anything that was dull and boring, be fun and eventful. He enjoyed playing many different card games with family and friends. Louis loved sports and excelled in football and basketball. He was active in the FFA as a Sentinel Officer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to tease people, in a good way, to make his family and friends laugh. He liked to sing and be silly to make people laugh. Louis was always willing to help people and was considered a "hero" to his little sister, Shauna. He was always neat, dependable, respectful, organized and was a very outgoing person. Louis cared about his hair and if it was a "bad hair day", he would just wear his favorite cap. Louis knew his family was very proud of him and they will miss him dearly and will always cherish everything he taught them about life; enjoy what you have and whom you have around you.
