Lorine Huber, age 94, of Bentley, ND, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 1, 2022 at the 5 Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD.

Funeral services for Lorine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.  Burial at the Bentley Cemetery will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Lorine Lena Bertsch was the eldest born in Burt, ND, on October 31, 1928, to Emanual and Christina (Breindeinbeker) Bertsch. She attended a country school north of Burt, ND, then when the family moved to a farm east of Mott, ND, she went to Mott Grade School, graduating from the 8th grade. Lorine was always hoping she could go to high school, but since she was the eldest, her mom needed her to stay home and help around the farm. She tended to the turkeys, shucked corn, helped in the fields with her dad and around the house with her mom taking care of her siblings, Julius, Anna, and Ervin.

Lorine was united in marriage to Marvin Huber on November 25, 1948, at the Mott Congregational Church. They lived in a small two-bedroom house on the George Huber Sr. farm for three years, then moved in 1951 to the Rudy Rossen farmstead for six years and there they were blessed with three children, Judy, Gene, and Dale. Then again moving but settling to the John and Tillie Kom farmstead in 1957 where they were blessed with five more children, Dave, the twins Rory & Cory, Mark, and Lori.

Marvin and Lorine shared 52 years of marriage before Marvin passed away in 2005. Lorine continued living on the farm with one of her twin sons, Cory, until her health declined, moving into the Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD, in February of 2017.

Lorine was a strong good-hearted lady, always caring about her family, friends, and neighbors before herself. She helped Marvin in the fields, milked dairy cows for 62 years, raised chickens, and sold the cream and eggs to rural towns and neighbors. She was a true hearted German, baking homemade bread and buns, cinnamon rolls, kuchen, fry bread, fleishkeuchle, strudels, blatchindas, and most importantly, making sure whomever stopped by would always have something to eat.

Lorine's saying when anyone was leaving would be "We will see you when we see you." So yes, our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend, we will see you again someday in heaven.

Lorine is survived by her eight children, Judy Huber, Lemmon, SD, Gene (Lynn) Huber, Faith, SD, Dale Huber, Mott, ND, Dave (Toni) Huber, Lemmon, SD, Rory (Becky) Huber, Bowman, ND, Cory Huber, New Leipzig, ND, Mark Huber, New Leipzig, ND and Lori (Gary) Daley, Lemmon, SD; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Amber (Jason), Kenny (Nicole), Ashley (Mike), Skyler (Chelsea), Robert, Morgan (Sterling), and Trent; thirteen great-grandchildren, Dameon, Skylar, Jasmine (Cade), Ty, Natalie, Kayden, Norah, Finley, Owen, Sutton, Mallie, Everly, and one more coming in March of 2023; one great-great grandchild, Oliver; sister-in-law, Wilma Huber; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and the Five Counties Nursing Home Family.
