Loretta's Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the New Hope Worship Center of Lemmon, SD.

Loretta Jane Schmidt, 82, passed away on August 6, 2025 at the Five Counties Nursing Home, where she resided the last few years.

Loretta was born on September 16, 1942, in Kinsey, MT to her loving parents, Gilbert and Wilma Gunderson. They moved to a farm near Lemmon, SD, where she spent her childhood days with her brother,
Howard, and her sister, Darlene. She
attended the Lemmon area schools. She worked as a caretaker for elderly people and had many babysitting jobs. She was a
member of the Church of God in Lemmon and a homemaker.

Loretta is survived by her former spouse, Ludwig Schmidt; their children, Janie (Alan) Larson and Roland Schmidt;
grandchildren, Adam (Stacy) Larson and Angela (Wyatt) Gentzkow; and one great granddaughter, Leola Gentzkow.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Wilma Gunderson; one infant son who passed shortly after birth, who she forever held in her heart; one grandson, Brady Larson; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Gunderson.
