Lorene was born to John and Amelia (Bickel) Schaible on March 9, 1926 on a farm near Heil, North Dakota. She was the second of six children: Irene (who died in infancy), Lorene, Ray, Marvin, Ruth Peterson, Doris Hillius, Dale. Ray and Doris preceded her in death.
Lorene began her education in a country school north of Burt. She finished her primary and high school education in Elgin where her family later moved. After completing high school, she worked for a time as a nurse's aid in the Elgin hospital. In 1949 she graduated from Great Lakes Bible Institute in Zion, Illinois after which she went to Campton, Kentucky with a classmate, working at a pioneer church. In the fall of 1952, Lorene returned to Elgin and continued to work at the hospital until she was invited to help pioneer the Assembly of God in Mandan, ND, where she also worked in the office of the Mandan Creamery.
Lorene was united in marriage to Gottlieb Edwin Seidler on September 25, 1953. Gottlieb and Lorene have five children: Dawn (Springfield, MO), Twila (Carrington, ND), Lowell (Rothsay, MN), Robin (Ellendale, ND), and Jay (Phuket, Thailand). Following several moves Gottlieb and Lorene settled on Gottlieb's parents' farm northwest of New Leipzig ND
The families of the children are Dawn and D. Robin Storer and their children Micah (his wife, Kim), Troy (his wife, LaRae, and their daughter, Eden), Luke, and Kayla; Twila and Kenny Raines; Lowell and Connie and their daughter Jenna; Robin and Ken Smith and their children, Austin, Erica, Emily, Evan, Owen, and Alden; and Jay and Milka and their children, Sky and Mikael.
Lorene worked together with Gottlieb on their farm and raised a family. She was also a faithful and active leader in the Elgin Assembly of God Church. In addition to teaching Sunday school, she often filled the pulpit, proclaiming God's Word to the congregation, especially in the absence of a pastor.
Lorene loved to read and taught her children the value of education. Music was an important part of her life that she passed on to her children. Though raised in town, her heart was captured by the farm life. She loved working in her garden and taking care of her pets and livestock. She felt that the farm was the best place to raise her children because it was a safe environment as well as a place to learn a good work ethic. Lorene enjoyed long walks across the scenic prairie
In her youth, faith became of paramount importance. This personal relationship with God influenced every aspect of her life. All of her children share her deep faith.
Lorene passed from this life on Monday afternoon, March 31, 2008 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin.
A memorial has been established for missions and can be sent to Gottlieb Seidler Family, 303 Dakota Street South, Elgin, ND 58533.
