Lola Mae Hall age 88 of Spearfish, died Wednesday September 3rd, 2008 at the Dorsett Regional Senior Care Center in Spearfish.

Private family services were held at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, with burial in the Bison Cemetery, in Bison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.

Lola Mae Rucker was born September 17th, 1919 on the farmstead of her parents, near Breckenridge, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Leslie and Mabel (Stieger) Rucker. Mabel grew up on the family farm near Breckenridge and graduated from the Hettinger High School.

Lola spent most of her life in public education. She attended the Spearfish Normal School (now Black Hills State University), The University of South Dakota at Vermillion and Northern State University (NSU) Aberdeen where she was awarded a Masters Degree in Education. She obtained an Educational Specialist Degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

She taught primary grades in South Dakota, New Mexico and Arizona. She was a Secondary School Principal in Arizona and a High School Principal at Wall, SD. She was a Professor in the Educational Departments of The University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff.

Lola also worked for the South Dakota Division of Elementary and Secondary Education as a reading specialist in the Department of Instructional Services, in Pierre.

She will be remembered for being an excellent "stride" piano player.

Lola is survived by her sons, Lanny (Kay) of Sacramento, CA, and Rande of Nashville TN; 2 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Step-Great Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Robert.
