Lloyd Bernard (Boots) O'Donnell, 93 of Morristown passed away peacefully at Five Counties Nursing Home on Friday, December 20, 2019. Beloved brother, uncle and friend.

Born March 21, 1926 at home to Leo and Julia O'Donnell, he was the youngest son and spent his childhood along with his four brothers and three sisters on the family farm.
He graduated from McIntosh, SD high school in 1945. He worked on the family farm with his parents and raised hogs and cattle.
Being very musically inclined he taught himself to play the piano, banjo and violin. He played for dances at many locations including Gopher and Glad Valley. He also taught Religious CCD classes to many young people at Sacred Heart Church.
He was very proud of his Irish heritage and was able to take a "trip of a lifetime" to Ireland.
Boots loved history, especially the lives of the U.S. Presidents. He had a vast store of facts and figures which he could quickly bring to mind. He would often quiz visitors on their knowledge and took great pleasure in stumping them. He was the family historian. He enjoyed restoring and owning Model A cars and drove them in some local parades. He was a fierce Pinochle player, spending many pleasurable hours with like-minded friends and relatives.
He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. This included telling them family stories, truck rides out on the prairie, challenging them to races from the house to the barn (as he carried two milk pails!) and creating "scientifically balanced" ice cream cones. He was Uncle Boots to many, whether they were related or not.
After falling ill in September 2016 he was admitted to Five Counties Nursing Home where he spent his final years under their excellent care.
He is survived by his sisters, Grace Tomac and Leola Buche, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Julia O'Donnell, his brothers James, Leo (Hans), Robert and Louis (Bud) and his sister, Kathryn.
