Obituary

Lillian (Huber) Ackerman ""Lilly"" passed away on December 24th, 2013 after a short illness where she was visiting her daughter Kathy and her family for Christmas. Lilly was 90 years old.

Lilly was born to John Huber and Sara Pahl, October 27th, 1923 at the farmstead in rural Carson, North Dakota; she was the 13th of 17 children. Lilly grew up on the farm and attended Thain School from first grade through her sophomore year in high school. During that time she worked various jobs while still in school. After her sophomore year Lilly finished high school in Carson and graduated in May, 1941. After graduation she worked for the Triple AAA office at the Grant County Court House for 1.5 years. Later she was employed at the Office of Price Administration (OPA) where commodity stamps were issued during World War II. It was during that time she met Tony Ackerman and they later married on July 3rd, 1943. They were blessed with four children, Lyle (1945), Janice (1946), Michael (1948, passed away shortly after birth) and Kathleen (1950).

Tony and Lilly were married for 59 years where they lived on the farmstead and in the house that Tony was born in. They made their lives by raising cattle and farming on the south edge of New Leipzig. Through those years their greatest joy was spending time with their nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. They often visited all of their children and grandchildren at their homes in Kansas, Minnesota and Colorado. They loved their families dearly and were fortunate to attend many of their grandchildren's graduations from high school and college.

Tony and Lilly were members of St. John's Catholic Church in New Leipzig. They were dedicated members as their children were baptized and confirmed and two eventually were married there. Tony passed away on November 23rd, 2002, his Funeral was in that very church.

Lilly was the sole survivor of her siblings. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, baking, gardening, canning and entertaining anyone who dropped by to visit. One of Lilly's wishes was to say good bye and God bless all of her many friends and extended family. Lilly also wanted to express that Tony and her were very proud of all of their children, grand children and great grandchildren. They loved each and every one of them dearly.
