The Rosary Service for Leverene Baumeister, age 73, of Watauga, SD will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 all at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Watauga, SD. Fr. Ron Garry will officiate with burial in the Watauga Cemetery.


Special music will be provided by Mary Nehl, pianist.


Serving as active casketbearers are Cory Collins, Chet Collins, Ashley Baumeister, Kaitlyn Dix, Kayla Strid and Nathan Strid. All friends and relatives are considered honorary casketbearers.


Leverene Ulrich was born on September 25, 1937 to John and Elsie (Clark) Ulrich at Lemmon, SD. She was raised on the family farm southwest of New Leipzig, ND. She attended a rural grade school near her farm and graduated from New Leipzig High School in 1955. She then attended Black Hills State Teacher's College in Spearfish, SD where she received her teaching certificate. She taught south of Keldron, SD near the Clark Ranch.


On October 24, 1959 she was united in marriage to Thomas Baumeister at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Watauga, SD. She spent most of her married life living on the farm south of Watauga raising her family. Leverene drove school bus for the McIntosh School District for several years and also spent many years working as a waitress at the Lemmon Truck Stop. She enjoyed baking, sewing and quilting.


Leverene passed away on Friday afternoon, August 26, 2011 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.


Grateful for having shared in her life include her husband, Thomas Baumeister, Watauga, SD; her children, Rhonda (Larry) Collins, Isabel, SD, Mark (Kathy) Baumeister, Lemmon, SD, Carmen Strid, Hettinger, ND, Pam (Mitch) Dix, Morristown, SD, Deanne (Michael) Hancock, Bismarck, ND, John (Kristie) Baumeister, McIntosh, SD and Matt Baumeister, Mandan, ND; her grandchildren, Cory, Chet, Brandon, Ashley, Megan, Kayla, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Levi, Owen, Halli, Amara and Jaela; one great grandchild, Logan; and one brother, Arnold Ulrich, Elgin, ND.


She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Zachary.


Visitation will be on Monday, August 29, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Church in Watauga on Tuesday.


A memorial has been established.
