Lester (Sonny) LeRoy Schneider was born Aug 17th, 1942, to Bernard and Irene (Savage) Schneider. He graduated in 1960 from McIntosh High School and was crowned Homecoming King and participated in track.  He was inducted into the US Army on December 4, 1964 and served in Vietnam until he was Honorable Discharged on September 7th, 1966. While serving, he earned Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert (rifle M-14), two Overseas Service Bars, and one year Safe Driver's Badge.
Lester was united in marriage to Susan Nehl on July 28, 1973 in Morristown.  To this union were born three children Seth, Sonya, and Justin.
Sonny was a jack of all trades - he was a Certified Electrician and Plumber, owned his own Construction Company, worked as a hired farm hand, helped operate the Summerville Store, and was the Head of Sanitation while working for the City of Sisseton, Mr. Fix it or Bob the Builder for all of Sue's ideas and an unofficial hunting guide to friends and family.  He helped Grandma Sue take care of their special "grandchildren" Henry, Zella, Tayson & Will.
Les was the toughest guy we knew.  He fought his lung cancer to the fullest from 2020 until the time of his death.  He was exposed to Agent Orange while in serving in Vietnam and never complained about any of it. He was a proud veteran.  No matter what the situation, he handled it.
Sonny was an accomplished bowler.  During his peak, Sonny bowled a 700 series, all spare games, and was a member of the 7/10 Club.  Sonny set a six game record at the Antelope Lanes with a total of 1,331.

Sonny passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND.

Les is survived by his sons Seth (Amber)  and their children Olivia, Ryan, Kora and Great Grandson Knoxley of Marion, IN and Justin (Brittany) and their children Ivy & Braelyn of Watauga, SD, and daughter Sonya (Joey) and their children Payton, and Coy;  brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell of Gun Barrel City, TX; Ted (Tana) of Spencer, IA and sister, Ellen (Toots) Heathcoat of Martinez, CA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brenda Schneider, McIntosh, SD;  Mike (Cheri) Nehl of Belle Fourche, SD, SD;  Jim (Linda) Nehl of Keldron, SD; Joe (Vicky) Nehl of Worland, WY; Tom Nehl of Upton,Wy, Rich (Bonnie) Nehl of Butte, MT; and Bill Stuble of Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
