Leslie "Les" Friez was born on November 06, 1938 to Theophil and Ruby Friez in Yakima, WA and later moved to a farm 20 miles northeast of Lemmon, SD. He attended grade school at Beigsel Country School where he enjoyed spending time with his friends riding motorized scooters and trapping pheasants. He attended Lemmon High School where he excelled in shop and welding classes; skills in which he continued to use throughout his life working on the farm. He met his first wife Adeline Kirschmann at the Regent Café where she was a waitress. He was united in marriage to her on August 24 th , 1957 and they made their home on a farm south of Mott for 50 years. They were blessed with two sons, Ricky and Randy. They moved closer to Mott in 2007 until she passed away in 2013.

Les was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also devoted to the Lord and spent many hours in prayer with the Lord his Savior. He enjoyed farming and shared his love and passion for it with his son Randy and grandson Brandon whom he farmed with until he semi-retired in the year of 2016. During his retirement you could often find him at the local coffee shop enjoying visiting with his friends or at the farm.  In 2016 Les married Wanda Roso. Both having been widowed for some time, they made the most of each day with Les asking each morning what was on the agenda! As sickly as he had been he truly looked forward to going home to Heaven. It was a blessing that he was able to sleep his way home on a Sunday morning.

Grateful for having shared in Les' life are his wife, Wanda, of Lemmon, SD, sons, Ricky (Sandy) Friez, Watonga, OK; Randy Friez, Mott, ND; 3 step-daughters, Sherry White, Carrollton, GA, Julie Loper, Lemmon, SD, Tammy Hruby, Hettinger, ND, four grandchildren, Brandon Friez, Mott, ND, Marah (Jacob) Greff, Dickinson, ND, Michelle (Anthony) Taylor, Moore, OK and Melissa (Eric) Roberts, Watonga, OK; 6 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Haylee, and Parker Roberts, Javior Neugent, King Taylor and Everly Greff; one sister, Diane (Dave) Schwab and one brother, Larry (Arlys) Friez, all of Prescott, AZ.
