Pastor Bob Johnson will officiate with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge, SD.
LeRoy John Holzwarth, known to friends and family as "Pee-Wee", was born on March 12, 1940, in Mobridge, SD, to John and Magdeline (Ackerman) Holzwarth Bossert. Magdeline remarried after the death of LeRoy's father.
LeRoy was admitted to SDDC-Redfield on May 29, 1946 at the age of six. He remained at Redfield until being admitted to LIVE on June 27, 1985. LeRoy worked in a sheltered work environment until approximately two years ago, when his health started to decline. He worked mostly on assembly and bench work.
LeRoy enjoyed listening to music and books on tape. He especially liked going out to eat or for treats. Going to musical concerts, attending sporting events, or being able to go to other community activities was always a highlight for LeRoy. When he was younger he liked to shop for new clothes, with new shoes always being high on his list.
Several years ago LeRoy began attending Baptist Church services in Lemmon. He always looked forward to being greeted by Pastor Bob and Cheryl. In recent years he has been unable to attend as often as he would have liked, due to his health and mobility issues.
LeRoy passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou (Don) Bossert, Ipswich, SD; half-sister, Kathy (Mike) Hart, Shakopee, MN; aunt, Etta Holzwarth, Pierre, SD; niece, Melody Filler, Mobridge, SD; and the residents and staff at LIVE Inc. in Lemmon, SD.
