Leona Christensen, age 84, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009, at the Marian Manor Nursing Home, Glen Ullin, ND.

The funeral service will be held on April 16, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. MDT at St. John's Lutheran Church, Carson, ND. Pastor Dale Carmen will officiate with burial at the Almont Cemetery.

Serving as casketbearers are Wesley Peterson, Joel Miller, Terry Miller, Shawn Henderson, Wayne Chesrown, and Ross Schramm. All friends and neighbors are considered honorary bearers.

Leona Bertha Olin was born at their family farm near Almont, ND, on April 2, 1925. She was the youngest child born to Alfred & Matilda Olin. She attended rural school near Almont, ND, through the 8th grade.

Leona was united in marriage to Daniel Christensen on January 28, 1951, at Almont, ND. They made their home at a farm near Lark, ND. In 1999 they moved to Carson, ND. In June 2003, Leona moved to Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin, ND. Leona enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, and being outdoors.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dan, two sons, Paul & Danny Christensen of Bismarck, ND, and four daughters, Peggy Henderson & Joan Christensen of Bismarck, ND; Jane Schramm (Ross) of Hazen, ND, and Linda Elliott of Henderson, NV; 12 grandchildren & numerous great-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred & Matilda Olin; one sister, Violet Miller; and one brother, Irvin Olin.

A memorial has been established.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Thursday one hour prior to services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Carson.
