The Funeral Service for Leona Baesler, age 78 of New Leipzig, will be held at 10:30am MT on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig with Pastor John Amundson, officiating.

Burial will be at 1:00pm CT on Tuesday, August 3, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan, ND.

Serving as casketbearers are Shanon and Jenna Morris, Brent Morris, Michelle Morris, Linda Koepplin and Clinton Kautz.

Leona E. Baesler was born August 7, 1935 to Phillip and Lydia (Klein) Maier in Mott, ND. On August 24, 1952 she married Leo Baesler in the Neuberg Church. Together they had two children, a son, Rodney (Myla) of Fargo, ND and a daughter, Ronda Morris of Winona, KS.

Leona passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin.

Leona has five grandchildren, Shanon (Jenna) Morris, Cedar Bluffs, NE; Michelle Morris, Colby KS; Brent Morris, Leoti, KS; and Amy and Mathew Baesler; three great-grandchildren, Brendon Morris, Reid Ryan and Leo Morris; sister, Alvina Kautz, New Leipzig, ND; brother, John Maier New Leipzig, ND,; and sister-in-law, Diane Maier, Mott, ND.

Leona was a very special wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked for the Good Samaritan Center and for many years as a waitress. She is well known for her kuchen and strudels. She will be missed by many.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Alma Bierwagon, Martha Wolf, Hilda Golke and Lydia Luithle; and two brothers, Alvin Maier and Richard Maier.
