The Mass of Christian burial for Lawrence Kouba, age 82, formerly of Regent, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Father Charles Zins will officiate, with burial in the Regent Cemetery.


A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott.


Special music will be provided by organist, Pat Schwartz.


Serving as casketbearers are Justin Zent, Randy Auen, Justin Meier, Ryan Olson, Blake Ulrich and Franky Jorda. All friends and relatives are considered honorary bearers.


Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott.


Lawrence Henry Kouba was born on the family farm nine miles NW of Regent on July 15, 1929 to Robert and Anna (Tupa) Kouba. He was a Dr. Hill baby. Larry attended Regent Public School throught the ninth grade. He then attended college at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, where he received his degree in television repairs.


After college Larry enlisted in the Armed Forces, where he served proudly from 1951 to 1953. When he got home, he worked on the family farm. He had a passion for farming and being outdoors. Larry and his brother Dennis, spent many of their hours working and running their own pig farrowing operation.


On September 30, 1995 Larry married his sweetheart Catherine Meier. They were married at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott and Fr. Dennis Schaffer officiated. Larry sold his farm in Regent in 2007 and moved to town with Catherine.


Larry enjoyed traveling to casinos, eating crab legs and farming. He loved flowers of any kind and took great pride in his 4 wheeler.


Larry passed away Thursday evening, July 28, 2011 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND. His family would like to thank all the nursing home staff, all the nurses and Dr. Walker for always "treating him like a King."


Larry is survived by his wife, Catherine Kouba, Mott, ND; nine step children, LaDonna (Duane) Treiber, Hebron, ND, Lorraine (Armin) Treiber, Richardton, ND, Victor (Sharon) Meier, Mott, ND, Linus (Pam) Meier, Mott, ND, Jeanette (Richard) Zent, Lefor, ND, Larry (Cheryl) Meier, Mott, ND, Marie (Keith) Kramer, Bismarck, ND, Robin (Rocky) Ulrich, Elgin, ND, Mike (Lynn) Meier, Mott, ND; 24 step grandchildren, 24 step great grandchildren; special niece, Sandy Fettig, Hettinger, ND; sister, Marcy (Myron) Auen, Mott, ND; sister-in-law, Betty Kouba, Mott, ND, and numerous neices and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Kouba, sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen (Lloyd) Leidal and Harriet (John) Lampel and brothers, Hubert, Stanley, Dennis and Robert Kouba.
