It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lawrence Candrian, who left us on February 25, 2025 at the age of 89. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on March 8, 2025 at 10:30 am MT at St. Henrys Catholic Church in Regent North Dakota. Rosary will be held at 10:00 am prior to Mass.  Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND on Monday March 10 at 10am CT.

Born July 12, 1935 to Peter and Gen (Gion) Candrian on their farm near Regent, ND.  He was the eldest of 8 children.  Lawrence or Larry (to some) spent his elementary school years at St. Marys in New England, ND and attended high school at the Abbey in Richardton, ND where he graduated in 1953.  He would help on the Family farm on weekends and summer months while in school.  In 1955 he joined the Army where he served in the U.S. and Germany until 1957.

Upon his return he continued to farm with his father and started searching for his future bride.  He met the Love of his life, Elizabeth (Alice) Schoch at a baseball game in Schefield.  They were united in marriage June 3, 1959 and were married 60 years until her passing on 9/19/19.   They made their home on a dairy farm near Regent raising their 4 children.  He actively farmed for many years, and worked as a crop insurance adjustor until 2018 when they moved to the Benedictine Community in Bismarck, ND.  He loved farming, but he loved God above all, followed by his wife and family.  He was a hard-working soul but found satisfaction contributing to the community.  He was very involved with St. Henrys and on the parish council.  He taught hunter safety for 30+ years, and was an active member of the Lions and Legion clubs.  Lawrence embraced technology and loved working with computers.  His wood working skills were incredible, and he built many things for his family and friends.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was very cerebral and would self-teach himself on any topic of his interest.  Most people remember him for his boisterous laugh and infectious smile.  He was the life of the party wherever he went.

Lawrence is survived by his 4 children; Gerard Candrian, Tomball, TX, Dennis (Kim) Candrian, Beulah, ND, Denise (Doug) Wiseman, Bismarck, ND; Michelle (Joe) Maher, Bismarck, ND.  9 grandchildren, Heather Candrian, Ariel (Ryder) Johnson, Derek (Hanna) Wiseman, Drew (Anna) Wiseman, Kayden (Kohl) Koppinger, Connor (Kaylee) Candrian, Nolan, MaKensie, and Gavin Maher.  9 great-grandchildren Karter and Kenzie Victoria, Burke and Cora Johnson, Holden, Marney, and baby Wiseman due in April, Eliza and Louise Candrian, Renley Koppinger. 1 brother Patrick Candrian; 4 sisters, Virginia (Melvin) Kessler, Marcella Kennedy, Florence Dawang, Martha (Rich) Wallace.  19 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron Schoch, Sr. Ann Schoch, Sr. Ivo Schoch, Ivo (Joan) Schoch, Veronica Weber, Rita (Rod) Anheluk, Leona (Boniface) Knopik, Clara Greff, Beasy (Howie) McGlothlin, Alton Schoch, Melvin (Silvia) Schoch, Callen (Janel) Schoch, Duane Lemke, and numerous nieces and nephews.
