Memorial services for Larry Collins, age 67, of Isabel, SD, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.  Services will be limited to immediate family members and will be live streamed through Larry's obituary on the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home website.  Streaming will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of the service.

Larry Gene Collins was born Nov. 3rd 1952 to Tom and Stella Collins in Faith, S. Dak. While attending school, Larry held several jobs at gas stations and unloading train cars of coal. Following High School Larry worked at the Chevrolet garage and the International dealerships in Faith.

Then in 1978 He moved to Isabel to work for the SD Game Fish and Parks as an Animal Damage Control Specialist. Larry resided 9 miles South of Isabel on Bill Scholls land near the WPA Adams Dam and in 1980 Larry built his first house after his trailer house fire. Then in 1982 He married the love of his life Rhonda (Baumeister) Collins. Larry and Rhonda in 1983 welcomed their first child Cory Thomas and in 1986 had their second son Chet Alan. While working for the state, Larry enjoyed hunting, and trapping for many great sheep and cattle producers. He really enjoyed aerial gunning coyotes with the good ole trappers and pilots.

In 1995 Larry, Rhonda and boys moved to their first homestead 4 miles west of Isabel. Where Larry, Rhonda built on to their house, and built all the buildings on the place from tearing down and saving lumber from 4 old houses and made their homestead a Home.

Larry enjoyed doing mechanic and carpentry work, reloading, shooting, metal detecting and putting up hay. He never forgot his Redman and had coffee with everywhere he went. He always said the best way to get ahold of someone was smoke signals and not a cell phone.

Larry loved his Wife and family and involved them in everything from fishing, hunting, fencing and every project in between. Larry was a great husband, amazing Dad, A man of Great values, honesty, hard work and he will be greatly missed by all.

Larry passed away on Saturday morning, July 18, 2020 at his home near Isabel, SD.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, Isabel, SD; two sons, Cory Thomas (Shawna) Collins, Butte, MT and Chet Alan (Madison) Collins, Isabel, SD; one brother, Bill Collins, Belle Fourche, SD; two sisters, Margie Vansickle, Sturgis, SD, and Bertha DellaRosa, Woonsocket, SD; sister-in-law, Myra Collins, Faith, SD; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Alvin and Steve Anderson, Irene Freeman and Lloyd, Lawrence and Dwight Collins.

A memorial has been established by the family.
