Memorial services for Kevin Alton, age 71, of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD, with Pastor Audie Brockel officiating.

Kevin James Alton was born in Wagner, SD, to Vernon LeRoy and Esther Lillian Erna (Wentland) Alton on June 15, 1949.  He grew up in Wagner and graduated from Wagner High School.  Kevin attended college at Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, and Southern Teachers College in Springfield, SD, graduating with a bachelor's degree.

In October of 1971 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Clovis, NM.  A daughter, Heather, was born and Kevin was honorably discharged in 1975.  Following his discharge we returned to Yankton, working at the South Dakota State Hospital and the Handicap Village in Sheldon, IA.

In Iowa he met Judy Tripp and they were united in marriage.  One son, Trevor, was born to this union.  In 1988 the family moved to Lemmon, SD where Kevin began working at LIVE Inc.  He dedicated his life to working for adults with disabilities.

Kevin loved baseball and was known to take a week of vacation from work during the World Series.  He liked tinkering with renovating his house and always learned new skills as he worked on fixing things.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, Lemmon, SD; daughter, Heather (Mark) Orf, Anchorage, AK; five grandchildren, Lyric, Lydian, Lyndon, Chloe and Nathan; sister-in-law, Thelma Alton; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Trevor; one sister, Margaret; brothers, Ernest and Melvin (in infancy); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Kathy Tripp; and brother-in-law, Terry Tripp.
