Obituary

Kenneth J. Peters, age 84 of Mott, ND, passed away on Monday evening, October 19, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Mott.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service for Kenneth will be held in the Summer of 2021.

KENNETH JOHN PETERS was born on May 13, 1936 in Mott, ND, the 6 th child of 12 children born to Fred and Katherine (Burghart) Peters.  He attended St. Vincent's Catholic Grade School through the 8 th grade, and graduated from Mott Lincoln High School in 1957.

On January 13, 1958 Kenneth enlisted in the US Navy as a machinist.  While enlisted, he served a tour of duty in Japan and was Honorably Discharged on October 15, 1963. He was very proud of his service to our country and was a member of the Taylor-Skartvedt American Legion Post #71 of Mott.

After his military service, Kenneth returned to Mott and started working in construction, which he did until his retirement.  In his spare time, he liked to tinker with anything mechanical and he enjoyed fishing along the banks of rivers and waterways in ND with his dad, brothers and friends.    He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Kenneth entered the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Mott in the summer of 2014, and remained there until his passing on Monday, October 19, 2020. Through the years, the loving staff and residents became like family to him.

Even though his family will miss Kenneth, they find peace and comfort in knowing that he was welcomed home at the gates of Heaven by his mom & dad, and brothers & sisters that passed away before him.

Grateful for being a part of his family are his brothers Fred (Carol) Peters, Sherman, TX; Ted (Peggy) Peters, Mandan, ND; Tom Peters, Sherman, TX; sisters Cathryn Peters, Phoenix, AZ; Edie (Bob) Pederson, Whidby Island, WA; and Cheryl (Rick) McNeill, Mott, ND; along with his many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Leonard, Robert, and Walter, and sisters and brothers-in law Claire and Gordon Zimmel and Rosalie and Delano Rowe.
