Obituary

On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Kenneth Roscoe Krisle, passed away at the age of 85 in Saint Cloud, Florida.

Ken was born January 4, 1936 in Dodge City, Kansas to Oscar and Mayme (Bryan) Krisle. He was the oldest, only being one year older than his twin siblings, Nina and Norman.

Ken graduated from Fowler High School, KS in 1954 and attended Dodge City College pursing an Engineering degree, but once he met Bonnie Rowden his life plans changed. They were married on November 23, 1956 in Hugoton, Kansas and lived on a farm he owned with his dad. In 1958 Ken was inducted into the Army and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia followed with an additional 4 years in the Reserves. A daughter, Toni was born in 1960. South Dakota became their home in 1963 when they purchased a ranch along the North Grand River southwest of White Butte. A son, Troy was born in 1964. His greatest joys in life were his family and as the group grew, he treasured and dearly loved each one!

Ken was a man with a wide range of talents. His favorite career/hobby was doing all activities associated with being a cattleman. He focused on raising top quality Charolais cattle and gave them the best of care. As a farmer he researched ways to improve crops, liked being a Silage Harvester and haying. His goal was always to make the 'perfect' round bale.  Ken brought his knowledge of irrigation systems to SD and installed several systems on his place. In 1988, his visionary abilities resulted in a patent for an irrigation monitor he created, used, and sold. For over a decade he was a salesman that sold Morenal molasses feed and minerals.  His mechanical abilities, welding skills, and A/C servicing talent kept his vehicles and equipment in top running condition. Furthermore, he was a perfectionist when it came to any carpentry work. Whatever he designed or built was top quality and admired! People were always amazed at what Ken knew and could remember. This was thanks to him being born with a photographic memory.

Throughout his life he enjoyed football, dancing, pinochle parties, boating and water skiing, socializing with neighbors, collecting coins, listening to Elvis Presley music, Western movies, and politics. Ken was a Christian that lived God's teachings and so treasured being a member of the Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church; where he had been an Elder, and served on various committees.

The Krisles continued to call the ranch their home until life threw them some curves, so he leased the homestead and began assisting Troy with his construction company; which took them many places. The death of Bonnie in 2011 nearly broke his heart. He found traveling was a way to ease his pain and discovered many new people and places to enjoy.  He was gifted and enjoyed at the age of 80 from his family a trip to Australia! On June 26 th he took the ultimate trip when he left this earth to enter 'Heaven'!
