Joshua Wayne Petree was born August 22, 1986 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Herb and Caryn Petree, welcomed also by his sister Nicole and his brother Jeremy. The Petree's moved to Belle Fourche when Josh was very young and he grew up here in the area. Joshua's dream since he was young was to become a framing carpenter and build houses, following in his father's footsteps. He recently started his own business, Advantage Construction, and last week completed his first house in Belle Fourche. He was very proud to see the work he had accomplished and had big plans of accomplishing a lot more in the months and years to come. Josh planned to build his own house this summer for him and his fiancé' Brittany Swett. Josh and Brittany were to be married May 11th at Spearfish Falls in the Canyon.
Josh will always be remembered for the big hearted, caring, young boy he was and for the amazing man he had become. Josh was truly a good person. His family meant the world to him and he would do anything for them. He was fiercely loyal to his friends. He had a great sense of humor and he loved to make people laugh. He never met a stranger. Josh loved the outdoors, camping and fishing, but his favorite thing was riding his four wheeler. He was always a natural at such things, and loved to go riding on the trails in the hills with his friends.
One of the most important things to Josh from the time he was just a little boy was his religion. He believed it with all his heart and would want everyone he loved to continue serving God. Josh was a wonderful and dedicated uncle, son, brother, and friend and he will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Josh died at the age of nineteen from a car accident near Belle Fourche. He was on his way to the meeting in Sturgis and at the time of the accident was reading the Bible to his fiancé'.
