Josephine Keller Meier, age 89, Mott, ND passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center, Elgin, ND.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott, ND. Fr. Dennis Schafer will officiate with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery at Mott.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 7:00 pm with a Rosary and Wake Service at 7:00 pm all at St. Vincent's Catholic Church.

JOSEPHINE KELLER "Josie" was born on December 28, 1925 to Joseph and Katherine (Hoffman) Keller on a farm six miles north of Lemmon, SD. She attended North Lemmon Country School and later on quit due to her mother's failing health. She helped around the farm milking cows, feeding chickens and turkeys and helped with the large garden. In 1944 her parents moved into Lemmon. Josie worked at the Ben Franklin Store for two and a half years.

Josephine was united in marriage to Peter Meier on October 29, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon. They lived with the Thomas Meier family for a while and in November of 1946; they purchased a farm three miles south of Burt, ND. Josie and Peter farmed and ranched and raised their family of four boys and four girls together there. The girls, a set of quadruplets (quads) born in 1957, were only the second set ever born in North Dakota.

In 1993, Josephine and Peter moved to Mott. Josie did babysitting for her grandchildren and neighbor children. She helped her niece in a catering business for 25 years, catering weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties. She loved raising a garden and canning. Everyone loved her dill pickles, cinnamon rolls and doughnuts. Josie's hobbies were collecting stamps, green glass, and cookbooks. She enjoyed making quilts and playing cards at the Mott Senior Center. In 1999, she purchased a second hand store which she called "The You and Me" which she operated from 1999-2010. On October 13, 1995, her husband Peter passed away.

She was a devoted member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Vincent's Altar Society.

Josephine passed from this life on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin, ND.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her sons Michael (Bonnie) Meier, Basin, WY; Milton (Carmen) Meier, Byron, WY; Lawrence Meier, Worland, WY; Virgil (Sherry) Meier, Mott, ND; daughters Marlene (Ron) Schmidt, Lovell, WY; Jolene (Dale) Harris, Gillette, WY; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter; an infant daughter Arlene; daughter Charlene Padilla; her five brothers, Frank, Leo, Louis, Jack, and Eugene Keller; and her four sisters, Monica Deymonoz, Amelia Korang, Ann Schmidt, and Isabel Boespflug.
