JONATHAN DAVID SPRECHER, "John" was born June 1, 1969, in Lemmon, SD to Susan M. (Pond) Sprecher and Marley L. Sprecher. He left the farm as a toddler and attended grade school in Rapid City and high school in New Leipzig graduating with the Class of 1987. During his schooling years he participated in football and loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He always had a story to tell, which he told in great detail, with great expression and emotion. John attended college for a short time, and then returned to Carson where he worked for Grant County, and on the family farm in addition to a variety of jobs.

John was united in marriage to Joleen Bentz on June 29, 1991, at Mott, ND. They lived in Carson where he farmed full time, and worked for Stur-D Products. Three sons were born to this union, Jordan, Jarin, and Jalen. John worked for Woody's Rebar in St. Paul, MN which took him to various job locations in many mid-western states. He later joined the Ironworkers Local 512. At the time of his death, he was working as a Power Plant Welder north of Center, ND. He died early Thursday morning, May 20, 2010, one mile north of Mandan, ND.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Carson and served as President of the council. He enjoyed playing darts and continued a lifelong passion of hunting and fishing. He always helped people and went out of his way to provide help to anyone in need. He also enjoyed spending time on the farm with his dad. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with this three sons.

Keeping him in their fondest memories are his three sons, Jordan, Jarin, and Jalen, and their mother, Joleen Waldbillig, all of Bismarck, ND; his mother, Susan Sprecher, Rapid City, SD; his father, Marley Sprecher and his wife, Julie, Carson, ND; two sisters, Mary (Wade) Pierson, Carson, ND, Michael (Chuck) Smith, Rapid City, SD; one brother, Mike (Oskana) Sprecher, Anchorage, AK; his paternal grandmother, Freda Sprecher, Elgin, ND; six nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Myron and Myrtle Pond, and his paternal grandfather, Reinhold Sprecher.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Monday one hour prior to services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Carson.
