Obituary

John Allen Suggs, age 68 of New Leipzig, ND; passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Lake Tschida. (his favorite place to be)

JOHN ALLEN SUGGS was born on August 30, 1953 in Chicago, IL to John Douglas and Violet Sally (Draper) Suggs.  John attended school and played football in Hatley, MS and graduated from Hatley High School in 1971.  After graduation, John enlisted in the Army National Guard for a short time until he was medically discharged.

After meeting Mary Makens and a short courtship, the couple was married in Aberdeen, MS on August 28, 1973.  They lived in Gattman, MS where John worked in the furniture industry and for Northington Trucking as a truck driver while the Tombigbee Waterway was being built.

In 1976, they welcomed their first daughter, Angie.  In 1981, they moved to Dickinson, ND where they welcomed their second daughter, Crystal.  Later on they moved to New Leipzig, ND.

John was a man of many talents.  He was a great mechanic, carpenter, and truck driver.  He could fix up anything he set his mind to.  His pride and joy was his family, friends, yard and gardening.  John's interests were hunting, fishing, drag racing, camping, riding his Harley Davidson, taking his hot rods for cruises with his family, woodworking, building engines, spending time with his grandchildren, and playing pranks on everyone.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Mary of 48 years, New Leipzig, ND; daughters, Angie (Grant) Wetzstein, Mott, ND; Crystal (Devin) Olson, Mott, ND; grandchildren, April Wetzstein, and fiancé, Kyle Mollman, Carter Wetzstein, Hailee and Ethan Olson, a niece, Amy Estis, and 2 nephews, Craig Monagham, and Daniel Caraway; and several great nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Douglas and Violet (Draper) Suggs, 2 sisters, Pat Jernigan and Janice Caraway; and one brother-in-law, Dennie Caraway.

The family thanks everyone who took time to call, pray, and be there for our family.

Cards may be sent to Mary Suggs at New Leipzig, ND.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm MT on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at the New Leipzig Community Center in New Leipzig with Pastor David Skjoldal, officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.
